ICM 72111 Fokker E.IV WWI German fighter SCALE 1/72. The origin of the Fokker E.IV is linked to the idea of a fighter with more engine and firepower than the aircraft used at the time. The first prototype appeared in September 1915. with a 14-cylinder Oberursel U.III engine with a power of 160 hp. The basic armament consisted of 3 Spandau machine guns which did not fire forward, only at an angle of 15 degrees. The aircraft was mass-produced with only two machine guns due to problems between the timing of the shots and the rotation of the propellers. This machine was used by pilots such as: Oswald Boelcke, Max Immelmann, Kurt Wintgens and Otto Parschau, but the Fokker E.IV itself was not very successful at the front. This was due to the use of a massive Oberursel U.III engine which was not only very unreliable and complicated to use, but also caused unwanted effects during the flight itself; for example, to make a sharp turn, it was necessary to practically stop the engine and enter the gradient. The aircraft's good speed and firepower were lost due to an unreliable engine and poor maneuverability. At an altitude of 3000 m the bike lost strength and reaching a higher altitude became practically impossible. Only 49 machines of this type were produced and served at the front between April and August 1916. The historical importance of this model is only underlined by the fact that it became a flying laboratory for testing various types of machine guns. Technical data: Maximum speed: 170 km/h, rate of climb: 4.17 m/s, maximum ceiling 3960 m, maximum range: 240 km, armament: fixed - 2 Spandau machine guns cal.7.92 mm.
