Tamiya 35120 US M48A3 Patton Tank SCALA 1:35 COD. 35120
The M48 Patton; an American first generation main battle tank (MBT), part of the M46-M60 family of vehicles that were the main battle tanks of the US Army during the Korean and Vietnam War. In 1951, the M-47 tanks were replaced with a modern design, but a multitude of technical problems prevented the rapid implementation of the project. Finally, in 1953, the first version of the new M-48 was in service, which it replaced; the reliable but obsolete M-47. Serial production was carried out in the years 1952-1959, during which 12,000 tanks of this type were produced. One of the widely produced versions during this period was the petrol M48A2C. After 1959, its place was taken by the diesel-engined M48A3. The M-48A and its later versions have been exported to nearly two dozen customers, and many nations still use the M-48 as their base tank. Israel an example here, where these tanks, after many modifications, work alongside the Merkava. Many of them are expected to start implementing M-48 modernization programs, as South Korea has done. Improvements to the Korean version include on strengthening side armor or introducing a night fire guidance system. It is also distinguished by a wind sensor mounted in the rear of the turret. M-48 was attended by min. in the Vietnam War, the 1965 Pakistan-India War and the Six Day War. In the battles on the Sinai it was outclassed by the Egyptian T-34 and T-54. Technical data: length: 9.3m, width: 3.65m, height: 3.1m, weight 45t, engine power (diesel engine): 750km, speed 48km/h, equipment (M48A3 version) : 90mm M41 cannon, 1x 12.7mm M2 Browning machine gun and 1x 7.62mm M73 machine gun.
