The semi-trailer was put into service in the Wehrmacht in December 1940 and remained there until the end of the war. Sd.Anh.116 was developed as a heavy trailer, designed for the transportation of armored vehicles (especially tanks) weighing up to 22-23 tons. Subsequently, the permissible limit was increased to 26 tons. The Sd.Anh.116 tow truck was characterized by an unusual design because its transport part was in fact suspended from two trolleys, the second of which was driven by the driver of the same trolley. Loading and unloading was only possible with the rear bogie disconnected. It is worth adding that the half-track Sd. Kfz. 8 or Sd. Kfz. 9. Sd.Kfz. 9 (it. Sonderkraftfahrzeug 9) was a German half-track of the Second World War. The first prototypes were made in 1936 and series production continued in 1939-1945, ending with the production of approximately 2,500 examples of this vehicle. The drive was provided by a single Maybach HL 108TUKRM engine with 270 hp. Sd.Kfz. 7 had no fixed armament as standard. Sd.Kfz. 9 was originally designed by FAMO as a specialized artillery tractor for heavy and heavy artillery regiments.
