L40 SELF-PROPELLED 47/32 ITALIAN SELF-PROPELLED GUN ITALERI 1:35 COD.6477, THE KIT CONTAINS DECALS FOR 4 VERSIONS AND PHOTO-ENGRAVINGS, THE TANK MEASURES 10.9 CM The L40 Self-Propelled Vehicle was developed on the hull of the L6/40 light tank to equip the rapid units of the Royal Army of an armored vehicle capable of providing the necessary artillery support and to be used as a tank destroyer. Starting from the design of the L6/40 tank, the revolving turret was removed and the 47/32 Mod. 1935 anti-tank gun similar to the one used on the "M" series tanks was installed in an open casemate. The Semovente was characterized by its small size, the plate and rivet armor typical of Italian production and the crew of only two men. Although conditioned by its performance no longer adequate to counter opposing armored vehicles, it was used during the Second World War, by the Royal Army in Libya, in Tunisia and in the Italian campaign. After the Armistice, some examples were used, with second line duties, by the Wehrmacht and the Luftwaffe ground troops.
