Forty years after making the Mustang enter the legend of muscle cars, Shelby repeats the operation on the basis of the fifth generation. On March 23, 2005, Ford and Shelby presented the new Mustang Shelby GT500 at the New York Auto Show. The chassis was developed by the Ford SVT (Special Vehicle Team), while the engine, a 5409cc V8, develops 500 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Subsequently, the displacement increased to 5812cc with a power of 662 horsepower at 6500 rpm.
